Breakfast Seminar on Presentation Techniques 5th of April 2013

What?

Tromsø Doctoral Students – TODOS invites all PhD candidates at UiT to a crash-course in presentation techniques. Those who take part will learn some basic skills related to communicating and disseminating the results of their research in a way that is efficient and accessible to other scientist, but also to the general public.

Who?

The seminar will be held by Audun Hetland, the national winner of the 2011 Researchers’ Grand Prix (Forsker Grand Prix). Audun has worked as a public speaker for ten years, and he is teaching presentation techniques here at UiT (at all levels from BA, MA, PhD, but also to professors, staff and university leaders). In 2012 he instructed the UiT FGP candidates, and our University took the two top prizes. In 2013, he will be one of the trainers for the new FGP candidates. He is also one of the founders of ReCO (www.reco.tromso.no), an organization that educates and facilitates education in research communication.

For this seminar, he will share some of his tips and tricks from his experience, and will be using videos from the Forsker Grand Prix to illustrate and explain the presentations skills he will be teaching.

After his talk/crash-course, the participants will find out more about Forsker Grand Prix, and how to join the competition in order to further develop their presentation techniques and scientific dissemination skills.
