EFMC Young Medicinal Chemist Symposium

The EFMC Young Medicinal Chemist Symposium is an initiative of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC). This one-Day Symposium, organized in connection with XXIII EFMC-ISMC, has the aim of:


  • creating a network of young European investigators in Medicinal Chemistry
  • stimulating young European investigators in Medicinal Chemistry to share their scientific work with peers and inspiring leaders in the field
  • creating competition and excellence in Medicinal Chemistry within Europe by selecting the European Champion in Medicinal Chemistry


The Program of the 1st EFMC Young Medicinal Chemist Symposium will include:


  • 2 keynote lectures
    • Prof. Kelly CHIBALE (UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN, Cape Town, South Africa)
    • Dr Alexander MAYWEG (F. HOFFMANN-LA ROCHE LTD, Basel, Switzerland)


  • 8 oral communications by invited prize winners from national young medicinal chemist meetings in Europe
    • Dr Duncan HAY (UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD, OXFORD, United Kingdom)
    • Mrs Christelle DUPOUY (UNIVERSITÉ DE MONTPELLIER, Montpellier, France)
    • Mrs Karolina PAJAK (MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF LUBLIN, Lublin, Poland)
    • Dr Saskia NIJMEIJER (VU UNIVERSITY AMSTERDAM, Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
    • Mr Thomas EVANGELIDIS (UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS, Athens, Greece)
    • Dr Ainhoa MASCARAQUE (CSIC, Madrid, Spain)
    • Mrs Lucia TAMBORINI (UNIVERSITÀ DI MILANO, Milano, Italy)


  • 4 oral communications selected from submitted abstracts
  • 20 flash poster presentations selected from submitted abstracts
  • A poster session open to any young researcher submitting an abstract
  • Award ceremony: Taros YMCS Presentation Prize, Royal Society of Chemistry YMCS Poster Prize, Roche YMCS Public’s Choice Prize

Munin Conference on Scholarly publishing 2014

When: 26th – 27th of November, 2014

Where: Tromsø, Norway


The Munin Conference is an annual conference on scholarly publishing, primarily revolving around open access. In connection with this year’s conference there will also be a National Open Access day (NOAD). This day is a seminar primarily for those who work with, or has interest in, open archives and/or Open Access publishing in Norway. NOAD will be the 25th of November 2014 and if you plan to participate on both events you can register through this link.

ReMaT Research Management Training – Workshop

When: 16th – 17th of September, 2014

Where: Hamburg, Germany


The workshop is designed for early-stage researchers in engineering and natural sciences, particularly PhD candidates from the 2nd year onwards. ReMaT is an interactive, intensive workshop providing an introduction to research management. It involves three international trainers and is held in English. The modules of the workshop cover exploitation of knowledge and entrepreneurship, acquisition of grants, intellectual property rights and the management of interdisciplinary projects.

Regional Studies Association Early Career Conference 2014

This exciting conference, sponsored by new open access journal Regional Studies, Regional Science, will provide early career researchers with the opportunity to network, collaborate and socialize with others working in regional studies and science. The objective of the conference is bring together students and early career researchers* to present and debate their work in a welcoming and stimulating environment, with a view to getting invaluable feedback and new ideas and learning more about how and where to publish their research results.
